Release note

Today we announce the release of the NuGridPy python tools:

This is a collection of python modules that we have developed over the years in order to analyze and explore
data outputs from the NuGrid collaboration. This includes the multi-zone output from NuGrid mppnp post-processing
(, the output from single-zone calculations ( as well as the output from MESA stellar evolution
calculations ( The tools can be installed via pip package manager, and online documentation is available.

These tools can be used to explore our public data hosted on the CADC VOspace:

For the future we have a new NuGrid feature lined up: Web Exploration of NuGrid Data Interactive (WENDI). It will
provide you with exactly what you what the name says it will. You can get a preview of the new capabilities at You can find there some ipython notebook examples to see some typical data exploration

Note that you can do all these things already with NuGridPy and mounting the CADC VOspace (see instructions at, at the moment you still need
to get a CADC registration, but this extra step will be likely removed soon). If you do not want to install any of these tools
you can try instead one of our public virtual machines available at

Please post on this list of you have any questions or comments, or mail to Samuel Jones <> for specific
questions about NuGridPy or WENDI.
